A night with Carolina Tech Founders

Last night we went to the inaugural Carolina Tech Founders event, formerly known as the Tech Founders of York County. It was the sort of night that reminds you plenty of people are building real companies right here in the Carolinas.

Marc Pitre, our co-founder, represented Net Net in a room full of founders doing the same hard, occasionally sleep-deprived work. Russ Sorrells of Beyond the Grind spoke about the founder’s grind, which landed with anyone who has ever tried to run a small company on conviction and whatever sleep was available.

Mostly, we want to thank the three people who decided the region needed a real place for founders to meet and then built one: John Blomberg of Winthrop University, Ken Reiter of GrowthVector, and Marcus Hermens of Marketing Mason. Connecting founders across the area takes real work. We appreciate that you did it.

Net Net is headquartered in the South Carolina Upstate, so this one felt personal. Founders need places where they can compare notes, find the right people, and admit that the thing giving them trouble is probably giving somebody else trouble too. We are glad to be part of that community, and we will be back.
